Davies Turner operates a Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting all offices to our IBM AS 400's located at Dartford and Heathrow. We also operate a number of dedicated servers providing email, Intranet, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and other ancillary services.

Data mirroring is used to ensure computer and communications reliability for all offices.

Davies Turner Air Cargo operate barcode warehouse systems to control and locate customers goods throughout the Davies Turner and Airline network at both House and Airline airway bill level and have also developed a number of bespoke in-house computer systems for inventory and stock-control for specific clients.

Davies Turner was one of the first UK agents to establish a direct AS 400 link with the majority of carriers through British Telecom's Cargo Community Service (CCS UK) to provide real time track and trace. This was further developed and resulted in D.T. becoming one of the first brokers to obtain approval for implementation of the U.S. Customs Automated Manifest System (AMS).

Email capabilities exist across the Davies Turner network and are further enhanced by 'scan to email' facilities in all offices.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is widely used throughout the group for both messaging and transmission of pre-clearance documentation and continues to be one of our principle development areas.

All the Davies Turner Air Cargo offices are linked to Heathrow's automated Customs clearance system through ASM 2000 (NT) across our wide area network.

Internet, Intranet and Extranet capabilities exist and are widely used by all of the Davies Turner Air Cargo Offices.

We continue to look for innovation and improvement in Customs clearance procedures and work very closely with the authorities on various consultative committees to achieve this. We have approval from H.M. Customs & Excise for implementation of Customs Freight Simplified Procedure (CFSP) through our AS 400 mainframe system. This and other developments will assist Davies Turner Air Cargo in providing a more efficient service to existing and new customers.
