3.4 million sq m of warehousing space to be built

Date Added: 18 August 2021

With our comprehensive array of logistics services and distribution centres across the UK, we were very interested in a recent article in Supply Management magazine that predicts around 3.4 million sq m of warehousing space will be built in the UK in 2021 as companies struggle to fulfil an explosion in online orders.

The article says that according to research by property consultancy Knight Frank, 3.4 million sq m of warehouse capacity are due to be constructed this year, marking a significant rise from the 2.1 million sq m built in 2020.

Today we have over 1.0 million sq ft of multiuser warehousing and an enviable track record of reinvesting profits into our logistics property portfolio.

The Supply Management article continues to explain that overall investment in UK warehousing, including spending on new capacity as well as leases, more than doubled in the first half of the year, reaching £7.4 billion – more than twice the £2.7 billion spent in the same period in 2020.
