52 percent increase in containership orders in 2024

With our large array of international container shipping services for both LCL and FCL import and export cargoes, Davies Turner notes a report on the Splash247 website in which maritime data intelligence company, VesselsValue, states that orders for new containerships are up by 52% year-on-year with 254 new orders placed in 2024, compared to 167 in the corresponding period of 2023.

The report added that with 362 new container ships entering the market already this year and a further 169 due to be delivered in the last few months of the year, 2024 looks set to be a record-breaking year.

It added that just 48 container vessels have been sent for demolition in 2024 to date, a fall of around 45% year-on-year.
