Boeing hands over the last 747

With a strong presence in the airfreight arena through our subsidiary Davies Turner Air Cargo, we note that Boeing has handed over the final Boeing 747 freighter to be manufactured at the company’s widebody factory to Atlas Air.

In July 2020, Boeing announced its decision to end the production of the B747-8F by 2022 and January 2021 saw Atlas Air place its order for four of the aircraft – the last of their kind to roll off the production line.

Production of the 747 began back in 1967. Since then, 1,574 aircraft have been manufactured.

A full report on the final delivery can be seen here:

In the IATA/CASS league table for 2020, Davies Turner Air Cargo was the UK’s highest placed independent freight forwarder, measured by CASS airline tonnage, and we must have loaded thousands of tonnes of freight onto B747 freighters since we were formed in 1990.
