Brexit update - 24th April 2019

Date Added: 24 April 2019

Brexit : Keep Preparing for every eventuality

The new Brexit ‘flextension’ buys us some additional planning time, but extra time also means extra uncertainty for our partners and clients.

The EU, in an attempt to avoid a problematic ‘No Deal’ scenario have delayed to deadline for Brexit to 31st October 2019. It means Government has 6 months to come up with an agreeable solution – easier said than done perhaps!

What happens next?

Following the Easter break, the two main parties are once again re-engaging in talks to break the deadlock. If a ‘deal’ of any sort can be agreed with the EU and ratified in Parliament then the UK will officially leave the EU, and the official transition period will begin. Worst case scenario is that Parliament cant agree a way forward in time, and then the UK will leave the EU without a deal on 31st October.

At Davies Turner our readiness level for March 29th, April 12th and now possibly 31st October Brexit is reinforced by additional staff already now supporting our experienced teams. Areas outside of our business, and away from our direct control where preparations remained lacking now have the time to finalise process and procedure, enabling any immediate transition and ‘hard’ Brexit to be as smooth as it can be

No time to relax!

Now is the time to continue planning, training and refining systems and process. Trading with Europe ‘post Brexit’ will never be as easy as it is today. Now is the time to ensure your supply chain is ready.
