Come and join us at the Retail Supply Chain and Logistics Expo
This week, the Retail Supply Chain and Logistics Expo kicked off at the Excel Centre in London, and we were impressed by the number of visitors to our exhibition stand.
Some were old friends, partners and existing customers, but encouragingly, many were keen to know more about our array of multimodal freight and logistics services, with some expressing a keen interest in exploring alternative options to their existing suppliers.
As well as our portfolio of international logistics services, we are using the show to promote the 140,000 sq ft multi-user logistics hub that we are currently building in the English Midlands.
Due to open later this year, the new hub on the edge of Atherstone offers quick access to both the M1 and M6 motorways and will rival in size the company’s largest logistics hub at Avonmouth, near Bristol, adding to Davies Turner’s nationwide warehousing and logistics network, which amounts to over a million square feet.
Visitors to the stand, which showcased an image of the new facility were keen to talk about its high bay fully racked area, with a top location level of 17 m and eaves height of 15 m, suitable for VNA forklift operations, as well as its ability to hold 18,000 standard pallets, leaving around 20,000 sq ft of spare locations for stacking cartons or pallets by the ground floor pick spaces.
190,000 sq ft of mezzanine floors will be incorporated, with an average area of 47,000 sq ft for each floor with conveyors, barcode readers and cameras to assist in automation, all suitable for the sortation, rework, and fulfilment services required for the company’s growing e-commerce activities and online retail logistics business.
Davies Turner already works for many companies that are active in the retail sector that understand how outsourcing their global supply chains can give them extra flexibility during difficult times, and we hope that some of the companies that we spoke to yesterday will also become long-term clients.
