Preparing for the e-commerce tsunami Davies Turner, which has a strong presence in the expedited international airfreight business, through our subsidiary Davies Turner Air Cargo, as well as a growing role in the world of e-commerce logistics notes some interesting reports emanating from the recent e-commerce forum held in Liège, Belgium. The Cargo Forwarder Global website includes an article that examines how almost all the airlines and airports alike are adapting to the explosive state of affairs of e-commerce, and how technology will have to follow suit. It reports that at the event, leading airline executives discussed the impact of e-commerce on their operations; and pointed to their experience of full freighter aircraft, high shipment volumes, but a gap between capacity demand and transport offer. The consensus among the participants as well as the experts in the roundtable discussion was that the segment has become the key growth driver for the air freight industry, particularly on routes between China and Europe.
