Terminals given the green light

Date Added: 25 August 2021

Further to our recent news items, with our broad range of multimodal logistics services to and from the Chinese market, we note that operations at Meishan container terminal in the Ningbo-Zhoushan port complex have recommenced and are expected to continue to ramp up over the next week, and be fully restored at the end of the month.

Several shipping lines have confirmed that operations resumed, with ships delayed in port having resumed cargo operations and sailed, whilst others which had been in the Ningbo anchorage since the terminal’s operations were suspended have been permitted to move to the quayside to begin cargo operations.

However, some lines also announced that some of their containerships would be omitting calls at Ningbo-Zhoushan, while others are expected to divert to alternate terminals.

News that vessels were again being permitted at the Meishan terminal came after Chinese officials said that no new cases of the COVID-19 virus had been reported.

Meanwhile, at Shanghai’s Pudong Air Cargo Terminal (PACTL), where all cargo operations had been suspended when two workers tested positive for COVID-9, we understand that all cargo operations have resumed and most airlines handled by the terminal will gradually resume operating flights in the coming days, albeit on an ad-hoc basic subject to the epidemic situation and manpower availability.
