2023: A year of change and consultations for UK customs
Davies Turner delivers a broad portfolio of Customs brokerage services to support clients in the completion of import and export customs declarations, regardless of who is completing the import or export movement.
We read with interest a recent report in the Institute of Export and International Trade (IoE&IT) newsletter that shows what a momentous year it has been in the UK Customs arena this year, which is going to carry on into 2024.
The last year has saw the introduction of the Windsor Framework, the announcement of the new Border Target Operating Model (BTOM), the passing of the Electronic Trade Documents Act, further announcements on the implementation of the new Customs Declaration Service (CDS) and plans for new voluntary standards for customs intermediaries.
In all, it was quite the year for the industry and quite a year for updates to the control of the UK border, as the government edges ever closer to the deadline for realising its 2025 UK Border Strategy.
