Asia Europe ocean trades - nightmare scenario?
As a provider of international container shipping services, including LCL and FCL import and export operations, Davies Turner was interested in a recent article on the Loadstar website, which suggested that both demand and rates are surging at present.
It reports sources saying that a cocktail of continued sustained capacity demand, blank sailing programmes and a full-year outlook that offers no positive outlook on the crisis in the Red Sea has sent ocean freight rates on a rapid upward trajectory, with container lines busy implementing peak season surcharges and GRIs on both long- and short-term contracts, with unrelated trade lanes now being affected as capacity is being diverted to the more profitable route.
This is something that our ocean freight staff are seeing with freight rates for planned departures between May 15th and 31st increasing significantly as container equipment and vessel space continue to impact the market.
