Global schedule reliability improves

Davies Turner, with our comprehensive network of international container shipping services, including LCL and FCL import and export operations, notes that according to the latest Global Liner Performance report, global container line reliability is on the up, with figures up to and including May, showing an improvement of 3.8 percentage points month-on-month (m-o-m) to 55.8%.

This is the highest schedule reliability figure for 2024, and 1.2 percentage points higher than the previous highest figure of 54.6%, according to the report compiled by maritime consultancy Sea-Intelligence.

On a year-on-year basis, however, May figures were -11.0 percentage points lower. Despite the improvement, the average delay for late vessel arrivals deteriorated, increasing by 0.34 days m-o-m to 5.10 days, moving closer to the pandemic highs than the pre-pandemic lows. On a y-o-y level, the May 2024 figure was 0.73 days higher, according to the report.

In terms of carrier scores, the musical chairs continue, with CMA CGM the most reliable top-13 carrier in May (57.1%), followed by Evergreen, which maintains its number two spot.

Maersk is no longer sixth from the bottom but has moved up to third position.
