Lower Thames Crossing approved

Lower Thames Crossing approved

Davies Turner has welcomed today's news that The Lower Thames Crossing application has been granted development consent by the Secretary of State for Transport.

This is a great result for the campaign, backed by politicians and businesses, for a project that was first mooted in 2009 as a means of addressing the problems that congestion at the Dartford Crossing causes.

We understand that work will commence in 2026 and should be complete by 2032.

The proposed 14.5 mile road crossing between Essex and Kent will connect the North, Midlands and Channel Short Straights, where over half of all goods traded between UK and EU are transported.
