New campaign to boost UK-India trade

New campaign to boost UK-India trade

With our presence in the freight forwarding market between the UK and India, we were pleased to read last week that the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds will visit India this month to relaunch talks for a Free Trade Agreement and Bilateral Investment Treaty with the country.

This follows a meeting between the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, at the G20 summit in Brazil in November, when it was announced that UK-India trade talks were set to relaunch in early 2025. A deal with India would boost our trading relationship, worth £41 billion in the 12 months to September 2024, with UK exports to India worth £17 billion.

A trade deal with India, as one of the fastest growing economies in the world and one which is projected to be the fourth largest global importer by 2035, is in line with this approach.
