Over seven million teu moved by China-Europe trains in past decade Having offered various rail freight services between China and the UK for over seven years, Davies Turner notes that statistics released by the China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) show that over the past decade a staggering 77,000 China-Europe freight trains have been in operation. The figures were released by the NDRC at the China-Europe Freight Train International Cooperation Forum held in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province, last week, according to the China Daily. The China Daily reports that the trains transported 7.31 million teu of goods, with a total estimated value exceeding USD340 billion. This extensive transportation network connects 217 cities in 25 European countries, solidifying its role as a vital bridge for international economic and trade co-operation. Davies Turner’s own dedicated twice-weekly LCL Express China rail freight service from departed Wuhan / X'ian to arrival at our UK depot was originally launched in 2016, and the operation remains the only direct intermodal consolidation service between China and UK. On departure from Wuhan / X'ian, the rail service heads direct to Duisburg in Germany. Containers are then trucked under bond to Rotterdam for transport by ferry to Purfleet, then on-carried by truck (still secure in the same container) to Davies Turner’s regional distribution centres across the UK, where they are discharged, customs cleared and delivered to final destination. We also offer a dedicated weekly consol service by rail from the UK to China, which provides clients with a scaled tariff for export rail shipments - so the more you ship, the more you save!
